TitleRecords of Sir John Philippart, College House, Hammersmith
DescriptionThe material in this collection, which all seems to have belonged to Sir John Philippart, was accessioned by Hammersmith Reference Library in 1947 as SSR 6. Most of it was subsequently split up on a subject basis and placed in the Hamersmith Local History Collection, but the letter book and "Parochial Register" (DD/26/1 and DD/26/2) were accessioned by the Archivist and later listed by the Archives Department of the London Borough of Hammersmith. In June 1974 it was decided that the whole of SSR6 should be stored together at the Archives Department and so the local items were transferred and listed as part of DD/26. Several items listed in SSR6 could not be found after exhaustive searching and have been notedbelow.

Some of the affixed material in DD/26/1 and DD/26/2 has had to be removed and is filed separately but the original references have been retained. For these volumes the following reference system is used: each page within the volume is numbered, and items affixed to the page sub numbered. Thus in DD/26/2 p159 an entry made directly on to the page is recorded as DD/26/2/159 and a poster affixed to the same page as DD/26/2/159/1. Blank pages are numbered but not entered in the list.
