DescriptionThese records relate to property in Hammersmith Road (formerly known as King Street) and Brook Green, Hammersmith, occupied by Benedictine nuns between 1795 and 1865, including Cupola House which was purchased in 1848 (see below). From 1669 to 1795 the premises were occupied by Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (IBVM) nuns - see list DD/827 for documents from that period and sources for more information on the site's history. After the departure of the Benedictines the buildings became a diocesan seminary. Since 1893 the site has been used as a convent and school by nuns of the Sacred Heart
