| Description | The lock-up shop on the ground floor of 58 Richmond Road (renamed Richmond Way in 1938) was used for repairing boots and shoes from 1922 until 1971.
Mr F W Brown, who died 1991 aged 96 years, worked in this shop until his retirement in 1971. After leaving school in 1911 he worked for William Charles Bush, boot maker, who had premises at 33 Richmond Road. William C Bush took over the lease of 58 Richmond Road in 1928 where Mr Brown ran a repair service.
Mr Brown's son-in-law, Mr D B Turner, took over the lease from the Bush family in 1956. Mr Brown served in the Royal Flying Corps from 1916 to 1918
