Is going to the seaside at the end of the week, but this letter will gain him admittance on 8th from the caretakers. The house was built 1780-1790, but the west side wing has been altered. Requests a report on the old orange house in the garden which "Mr Lovell" thinks may be the one known to have been there in 1690, although he himself thinks it is later. Refers to the iron water gate on the river wall; this is the original and was raised by [William] Morris to the parapet in 1880-1890 |
