States, in reply to a query from the mayor, that the commons of the manor were included in a Scheme under the Metropolitan Commons Acts. There was some controversy, particularly in 1878. There is now no common in the manor under the control of its lords, and virtually all the waste land has been sold. Thanks Sir William for the enjoyable luncheon party |
