Sir William Bull

Thanks Sir William Bull for his letter. Regrets using postcards, but following the loss of £600 on his book is trying to keep down expenses. Did not know that the publishers were making an interleaved copy for Sir William Bull; they will send an amended account when the work is done. Is glad Sir William Bull is thinking of 'doing Hammersmith'. Has given the Hammersmith librarian many of his notes relating to that parish. Also spotted many interesting references to Hammersmith in the Fulham Court rolls (Ed.III-Geo.IV) but skipped nearly all of them because of the time needed to decipher them. All the manors of the bishopric are jumbled together in the rolls, and the earlier ones are 'practically sealed documents' unless a systematic study is made. Would be grateful if Sir William Bull could recommend the book to any of his friends. 'I could not even elicit a reply from [?Gene] Goldsworthy
