| Description | Letter from Emily A Burnett, 33 Binden Road, W12 to Sir William Bull
Has been trying to ascertain the date of demolition of Vine Cottage, 206 Goldhawk Road, on the site of which the new Hammersmith Guardians' Offices were erected. Tudor Lodge, 204 Goldhawk Road, which is still standing, is relatively modern. She took the sketch from the drawing room window of No. 207 where she then lived. It represents the 2 houses and gateway opposite No. 207 exactly as they were in 1880-90. Vine Cottage was condemned as unsafe a few years after 1890. It had 2 grapevines at the rear and large numbers of cows were kept beyond the gateway, but the extensive grounds on which the parish orphanage now stands belonged to Tudor Lodge. Is looking forward to Sir William Bull's book on Hammersmith |
