| Description | Letter from Constance M Finn, 75 Brook Green, London, W to Sir William Bull
Thanks Sir William Bull for his letter of introduction which she has sent to her brother in Wimbledon. Her father and mother were not missionaries. Her father was consul for Jerusalem and Palestine from 1846 to 1863, during which time he "saved Syria from massacre more than once". He was given a special extra pension for distinguished service on retirement. Trustees who were left to administer their properties proved to be fraudulent and litigation in the Turkish courts has only recently restored one of the properties to the family. The other is claimed by the government- a great injustice. Her eldest brother who died in 1914 did distinguished consular service in Persia, Spain, America and Chile |
