TitleDeeds relating to properties of Stoe family in Hammersmith, Chiswick and elsewhere
DescriptionNineteen deeds:
1) 1746 proved 1746 probate of will of Harry Stoe of Chiswick, gardener [the elder] of a messuage in Chiswick.

2) 1760 copy admission of Sir John Ingilby of Ripley, Yorkshire, Baronet, to a heriotable messuage, piece of arable land or pasture six acres; and piece of arable in Chiswick Field including land called the Pit, with the cottage.

3 and 4) 1762 lease and counterpart of pieces of arable or pasture in Hammersmith Field near Chiswick; land in Chiswick Field alias Southcroft, called the Pitt, and the cottage erected on part, and covenants to plant quickset hedge etc, on the road from the high road to the new erected houses and buildings, near the Hope;

5) 1760 deed of covenant for the title of copyhold lands;

6) 1780 proved 1780 probate of will of George Stoe of Hammersmith, gentleman, mentions six copyhold messuages with the gardens adjoining the Great Western road, messuage and stables in Hammersmith with the Gravel Pit Field; messuage at Halton, Middlesex, and all hereditaments at Hounslow; messuage at Hammersmith at Warple Way south, and Lime Kilns road east; messuage in Chiswick and part of the Prebend manor there, and one other messuage.

7) 1793 counterpart lease of messuage on the south side of the Great High Road called the Great Western road, between the town of Hammersmith and Turnham Green.

8) 1794 lease of piece of copyhold ground in Fulham fronting east on Black Lyon lane.

9) 1795 copy admission to heriotable piece of arable or pasture land, six acres, in Hammersmith Field, in Hammersmith, near Chiswick, abutting upon the King's highway north and other lands, including a piece called the Pitt, with the cottage built on part, land in Southcroft alias Chiswick Field.

10) 1798 ground behind the messuage, deed endorsed "Lucas's land ".

11) 1800 deed of covenant of ground at the Hope with messuages erected thereon.

12) 1746-1800 abstract of title - three messuages and garden ground near Hammersmith Terrace, land and messuages at the Hope, (families of Mandeville, Calmell, Bodicot, Longstaff).

13) 1804 counterpart lease of a piece of enclosed garden or orchard with the fruit trees growing thereon - lease enclosing
(i) copy bond 1794 Harry Stoe to John Heppel of Hammersmith, victualler, and wife Mary - piece of copyhold ground fronting east on Black Lyon lane, (ii) 1804 licence to Harry Stoe to demise all his messuages in Fulham manor, (iii) 1804 copy bond Harry Stoe to Patrick Colquhoun.

14) 1804 counterpart lease of ground on the east side of Black Lion Lane, endorsed "Heppel' s land".

15) 1807 Deed of covenant on marriage of George Scott of Hammersmith, esquire, with Hannah Lucy Stoe.

16) 1809 Copy admission of Harry Stoe and wife to twenty rods adjoining the Black Lion in Hammersmith.

17) 1811 copy admission of Harry Stoe and wife Hannah to ground at the Hope, some adjoining the Black Lion Alehouse.

18) 1822 proved 1824 will with probate of Harry Stoe of Hammersmith, esquire, realty in Ealing and Acton called Thorney Hedge; messuage and tenement near Lime Kiln lane, houses and premises in Brighton, messuage and barn at Mitcham; shares in Trevannance Pier in St Agnes Cornwall. (Deed encloses five documents about the estate of Harry Stoe deceased: (i) 1847 Decree in Scott versus Hitchcock; (ii) 1847 Report of Master Richards; (iii) 1873 Order in Stoe deceased; (iv)1888 Order appointing a new trustee in the matter of the trustee act 1850, and in the matter of the trusts of the will of Harry Stoe deceased; (v) 1824 Copy admission of Georgina Scott, younger daughter of George Scott, and wife Hannah Lucy, formerly Hannah Lucy Stoe deceased, to a moiety of six copyhold messuages, adjoining the Great Western road in Hammersmith, and three score rods of ground walled in behind the messuages. Georgina Scott and her estates were put into her father's custody as she was a minor).
