TitleLetters from Hannah Bult to her Parents
DescriptionThirty-two letters from Hannah Bult ( from 1818 as Mrs Meredith)
to
her parents

The letters dated between 1801 and 1804 are written from a boarding establishment for young ladies in Pimlico Terrace. In the first letter dated September 22 1801, she refers to the birth of her younger brother [Samuel]. A third son was born in April 1804 but is never referred to again in any of the letters.

She suffered from ill-health and in 1809 was taken by her father to Clifton. She describes the situation and scenery, and her fellow lodgers in her letters.

In later years she takes over the direction of the household during her parents' absences.

She refers to the sermons of the Reverend Mr Washbourn [at the Independent Chapel in George Yard, Hammersmith] and of the Reverend Mr Uppardine [of the Baptist Chapel Dorvilles Row, Hammersmith], which she had heard. She was interested in charitable works
