Description | Letter from James Pepper, Bexhill to Mrs [Sarah] Bult, Hornsey Lane, near Highgate, London
Apologises for delay in writing. Bourne has gone to America but called only to say farewell and settle with Ann, and did not want to discuss the matter. He sailed from Liverpool, and from the newspaper it is known that the ship arrived, but no letter has been received. Philly [Philadelphia] is less uneasy now she knows the ship arrived safely. She and the children stayed at Bexhill for about two months but, except for Mary, who was very ill, they have now returned to Winchelsea. If they do not hear from Bourne they will probably move to Bexhill. Mr Thwait's business is going well despite Ann's fears that she would lose the £150 good will.
