Description | Declaration
Declaration by Margaret Rackett of Hammersmith, gentlewoman, that the £300 she paid to purchase the Great House plus 2 acres in Hammersmith (following the surrender by Edward Odell and Anne his wife on 27 April 1698) was not her own money but "the proper money of…Cecily Cornwallis", her name being used in trust for the latter
Recites purchase of the property by Frances Bedingfield of Hammersmith, singlewoman, on 21 October 1672 following surrender by Martin Dallinson and Martha his wife, and surrendered by Bedingfield to Edward Odell of St Mary-le-Savoy, tailor, on 4 July 1690, at which time the premises were occupied by Cecily Cornwallis, singlewoman, and William Hinton, carpenter, both of Hammersmith
On dorse: declaration (31 May 1715) by Cecily Cornwallis that Margaret Rackett has died and her interest in the property has descended to her brother Charles Rackett. As Cornwallis has now sold the property to Benjamin Michall of the Six Clerks Office, gentleman, and Thomas Hickin of London, goldsmith, she directs Rackett to surrender his interest to their use
Witnesses: Elizabeth Rackett, Johanna Bowes and Frances Hoffman |
