The Young Helpers' League for the upper and middle classes was established in 1892 by Doctor Barnado. His plan was for children of privilege to reach out to rescue the children of the streets.
The League was highly institutionalised with rules, badges, banners, divisions, sub-divisions, ranks and rewards. A Habitation was a local branch formed wherever there were 24 Companions. |
